Lighthouse's parity product, now called Lighthouse Distribution, finds a leak, proves where it came from with test bookings, and runs the enforcement. StayParity checks every night whether Booking.com, Expedia or a Google Hotels seller sells your room for less than your own site, matched like for like, and keeps each undercut in a list until it's fixed.
They overlap on monitoring. They don't do the same job. This page sets out where each one fits, from each company's own public pages, and says so when something isn't public.
A note on names
OTA Insight renamed itself Lighthouse in November 2023 (Lighthouse, 9 November 2023 (opens in a new tab)). Its parity product was long sold as Parity Insight. Today the product page is titled "Lighthouse Distribution", and "Parity Insight dashboard" is the name of one of its modules (Lighthouse Distribution (opens in a new tab)). If you're searching for "OTA Insight parity" or "Lighthouse Parity Insight", this is the product you mean.
What Lighthouse Distribution does
In Lighthouse's own words, it will "detect rate parity violations in real time, prove the source and capture more direct bookings" (Lighthouse Distribution (opens in a new tab)). Its public pages describe:
- Monitoring "every channel for parity" with "granular analysis by channel, source and device", including "mobile-only rates, member exclusives and length-of-stay discounts".
- Proof: "test bookings to obtain voucher-based proof of leakage sources", screenshots, and "test-booking intelligence [that] traces leakage to the exact wholesaler".
- IP Protect, which "detects rogue sellers, manages takedowns".
- Best Rate Guarantee claim automation, and "real-time price comparison" with "automated price matching" on the hotel's own site.
- Connectivity Manager, which tracks "transaction flow and errors between your CRS and channels".
- A Parity Insight dashboard with a market benchmark, and resolution workflows called Parity Manager and Parity Strategy (Lighthouse blog, 1 September 2025 (opens in a new tab)).
The same blog post says parity shops "run daily, randomized across times and channels", and calls the product "designed to help hotel chains and groups". The site lists it under "Chains & Groups". Lighthouse's plans for independent hotels, as listed on 29 September 2026, cover pricing, channel management, direct bookings, payments and reservation management, and don't include Distribution (Lighthouse for independent hotels (opens in a new tab)).
That's a serious toolset, and the test-booking and tracing side is something StayParity doesn't do at all.
What StayParity does
StayParity reads the public prices on Booking.com, Expedia and every seller Google Hotels shows next to your hotel, and puts each one beside your direct price for the same stay.
- Like for like. Room, guests, board, cancellation terms and tax basis are matched before two prices are compared. A comparison that can't be matched that closely is still shown, labelled "Cheapest rooms" rather than "Same room", so you know which is which.
- A queue, not a report. Each undercut opens in a list and stays there until it's fixed or you dismiss it. It closes on its own only after two clean checks in a row, so a price that flickers back doesn't slip past you. A live undercut is re-read at least every 4 days.
- Alerts where you work. In the app, by email (instant, daily or weekly, per person) and by signed webhook.
- Confirmed where it can be. A Booking.com or Expedia undercut is confirmed on that channel's own page when you've given us your listing there. A Google Hotels seller's price is the one Google lists.
- Your direct price. If your site runs on BON, it reads your price the way a guest sees it. On any other engine, it uses the price Google Hotels shows for your official site. Nothing to install, no access to your systems.
- A book-direct badge for your own site, which never advertises that an OTA is cheaper.
What it doesn't do: test bookings, tracing a leak to a wholesaler, takedowns, CRS monitoring, best-rate-guarantee claims, member-only or mobile-only prices, or views by country or device. It tells you where and when you're undercut. Finding out why is up to you, and our guides on why Booking.com is cheaper and why Google Hotels shows a lower price show how.

When Lighthouse is the better choice
- You run a chain or a group, and you need to prove to a partner exactly which wholesaler leaked a rate.
- You need member-only and mobile-only prices checked, or prices by device and source.
- Best-rate-guarantee claims, takedowns of unauthorised sellers, or CRS connectivity are part of the job.
- You already use Lighthouse for pricing or business intelligence and want parity in the same place.
When StayParity fits
- You're an independent hotel or a small group, and the question is simply: is anyone selling my room for less than my own site tonight, or next month?
- You want each undercut matched like for like, so a room-only rate against your half-board doesn't send you chasing a false alarm.
- You want a list you work through and close, with alerts by email or webhook, not a dashboard to check.
- Google Hotels matters to you, and you want to see every seller listed there, not just the big OTAs.
The nightly check and the proof aren't mutually exclusive. An independent can start by knowing where it's undercut, and make a test booking themselves for the cases that keep coming back. The rules behind it all are in EU rate parity rules, and the terms in the glossary.
Questions
Does StayParity make test bookings?
No. It reads public prices and tells you where and when a channel sells your room for less, like for like. To find which partner a leaked rate came from, you make a test booking yourself. Our Google Hotels guide shows how.
Why Google Hotels shows a lower price
Is Lighthouse Distribution available to independent hotels?
Lighthouse lists Distribution under chains and groups, and its published plans for independent hotels don't include it. Whether it would sell Distribution to a single hotel isn't stated; ask Lighthouse.
Is OTA Insight the same as Lighthouse?
Yes. OTA Insight renamed itself Lighthouse in November 2023, and otainsight.com now redirects to mylighthouse.com.
